Hordeolum - Chalazion

Hordeolum

 
Hordeolum is a blocked gland at the adge of the lid which become infected by bacteria, usually 5. aureus.
 
Treatment: Warm compresses for 15 min three to four times a day followed by antibiotic ointmet.

Chalazion

 

A chalazion is an inflammation of deep oil glands inside the eyelid. It is not an infection. It grows slowly and usually don’t couse pain.
 
Treatment: Hot compresses for 10 to 15 min three to four times/day. may hasten resolution. incision and curetage or intrachelazion corticosteroid administration may be indicated if there is no resolution after 6 weeks.
